Trackmap Outlines

Overview:

Track map outlines is a new feature introduced in version 4.2.7 of RST Telemetry Software, this new feature allows you to visualize the boundary of the track. This helps when trying to analyze driving line when comparing laps to a baseline. When you apply a Trackmap outline you will see the boundary of the track applied to the minimap has shown below

While zoomed out this feature doesn’t provide much value, but when you zoom into each corner, it can really help you see the difference in driving line. Take the image below as an example:

Looking at the example above, this is the final chicane at spa, on the exit of the chicane you can see the purple car tracks out a little wider, then the blue line on the exit of the chicane. If you look at the minimap you can see the blue line takes a slightly wider entry, and late apex of the corner allowing the car to get on throttle a few meters before the purple car, conversely the purple car takes a shallower entry makes a mid corner apex, and has to wait a few meters before getting back on throttle. With the use of the trackmap outline it becomes very apparent the differences in driving line in respect to the track corners.
